Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make this nutella puff pastry tart ahead of time?
You can assemble the tart up to the egg wash step and refrigerate it for a few hours before baking. It's best baked and served the same day since puff pastry loses its crispness over time.
What is the best puff pastry to use for a nutella puff pastry tart?
Store-bought all-butter puff pastry works best because it puffs up light and flaky. Just make sure it's fully thawed but still cold before rolling and topping it.
Can I use frozen berries instead of fresh?
Fresh berries are recommended since frozen ones release extra moisture that can make the pastry soggy. If using frozen, thaw and pat them very dry first.
Why did my tart pastry not puff up properly?
This usually happens if the pastry was too warm when it went into the oven or the oven wasn't fully preheated. Keep the pastry cold until baking and use a hot 400°F oven for the best rise.
