For the Crust:
- 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups chopped spinach
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- In a large pot, brown the Italian sausage over medium heat, breaking it into crumbles.
- Add diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until softened.
- Pour in chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
- Stir in heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, basil, and oregano. Season with salt and pepper.
- Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add chopped spinach and cook for an additional 5 minutes until wilted.
- Serve hot with extra Parmesan if desired.
