Apple Cinnamon Sheet Cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 cups peeled diced apples
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line or grease a 9×13-inch pan.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. Cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla.
  4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and applesauce. Fold in apples.
  5. Spread batter evenly in pan. Sprinkle topping mixture over the top.
  6. Bake 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely before serving.
