- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda; set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
- Add salt, vanilla extract, and eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing just until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and nuts if using.
- Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough about 2 inches apart onto prepared baking sheets.
- Bake until cookies are golden around the edges but still soft in the center, about 10-12 minutes.
- Remove from oven, let cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, lightly dust with powdered sugar to create a winter wonderland effect.
Notes
For extra festive flair, add a pinch of cinnamon or a few crushed peppermint candies to the dough. Store cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness for up to a week.
