Ingredients
Scale
- 24 tbsp (3 sticks) unsalted butter
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 ½ cups light brown sugar, lightly packed
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 ½ tbsp molasses
- 2 ½ cups bread flour
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp malted milk powder
- 1 ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 ½ tsp kosher salt
- 1 ¼ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 ¼ cups milk chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (not stated explicitly but typical).
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar for 3-5 minutes until light and fluffy. Scrape down the sides.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Then add vanilla extract and molasses and mix until incorporated.
- Combine bread flour, all-purpose flour, malted milk powder, baking soda, and salt. Add to wet ingredients and mix at low speed until combined.
- Scrape down sides of bowl, then fold in both types of chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Scoop dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets spaced apart as desired.
- Bake for 10-13 minutes or until edges are golden and centers are set but still soft.
- Cool on baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Use a combination of bread flour and all-purpose flour for chewy texture. Adding molasses enhances depth and moisture. Chill dough if time allows for richer flavor development.
