- 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Whipped cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Melt dark chocolate and butter together over a double boiler or in 30-second microwave intervals, stirring until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar and eggs until pale and thick, about 3-4 minutes.
- Gently fold the chocolate mixture into the egg mixture until combined.
- Sift flour, cocoa powder, and salt together, then fold into the chocolate mixture along with vanilla extract.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 20-24 minutes until edges are set but center remains slightly fudgy.
- Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate.
Notes
This dessert can be served warm or at room temperature with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 4 days. The center should have a molten quality; avoid overbaking.
