  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 18 jumbo pasta shells
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook pasta shells according to package directions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, brown ground beef with onion and garlic. Drain excess fat, season with salt, pepper, basil, and oregano, then let cool slightly.
  3. In a bowl, mix ricotta, 1/2 cup mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, and the cooled beef mixture until well combined.
  4. Spread 1 cup marinara sauce in a 9×13 baking dish. Fill each shell with the beef and cheese mixture, then arrange in the dish.
  5. Pour remaining sauce over shells, sprinkle with remaining mozzarella, cover with foil, and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake 5 more minutes until cheese is golden.
