- 18 jumbo pasta shells
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 24 oz marinara sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook pasta shells according to package directions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, brown ground beef with onion and garlic. Drain excess fat, season with salt, pepper, basil, and oregano, then let cool slightly.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta, 1/2 cup mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, and the cooled beef mixture until well combined.
- Spread 1 cup marinara sauce in a 9×13 baking dish. Fill each shell with the beef and cheese mixture, then arrange in the dish.
- Pour remaining sauce over shells, sprinkle with remaining mozzarella, cover with foil, and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake 5 more minutes until cheese is golden.
