- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 1 cup white or whole wheat flour
- 5–6 large apples, thinly sliced

Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare baking pan.
- Mix melted butter, sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and flour to make the shortbread crust.
- Press crust evenly into the bottom of the pan and bake until lightly golden.
- In a bowl, toss sliced apples with flour, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg to make the filling.
- Spread apple mixture evenly over the baked crust.
- Prepare streusel topping (not fully detailed in source) and sprinkle over apples.
- Bake until streusel is lightly browned and apples are tender.
- Remove from oven and cool for 20 minutes at room temperature.
- Chill in refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
