Ricotta Beef Shells

A comforting pasta dish featuring jumbo pasta shells stuffed with a rich ricotta and ground beef mixture, baked in marinara sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 12 oz jumbo pasta shells
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a bowl, combine ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, garlic powder, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix in the cooked ground beef.
  4. Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  5. Fill each pasta shell with the ricotta-beef mixture and arrange in the baking dish. Top with remaining marinara sauce.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes until bubbly.
