Ingredients
Scale
- 1¼ cups warm milk
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- ½ cup melted butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp salt
- 4½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup softened butter
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp rosemary
Instructions
- Combine warm milk and sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add melted butter, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture and mix roughly.
- Gradually add flour with the dough hook on low speed until a soft dough forms. Increase speed to medium and knead for 5-7 minutes.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
- In a small bowl, combine softened butter, honey, and rosemary for the filling.
- Punch down the dough, roll into a rectangle, spread filling evenly, cut into squares or rectangles, fold each piece in half enclosing the filling, and place folded side down in a greased 9×13 baking dish.
- Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes until doubled in size.
- Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- In a small saucepan, mix butter, honey, and rosemary over low heat to create a glaze. Brush warm rolls with glaze immediately after baking. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
These rolls are best served warm with the honey-rosemary butter glaze brushed on top. The dough is soft and slightly sweet, making them perfect for holiday meals. Allowing the dough to rise fully twice ensures a light, fluffy texture.
