Old-Fashioned Peach Cobbler

A classic Southern dessert with juicy peaches and a buttery biscuit topping.

For the Crust:

  • 4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a saucepan, combine peaches, 1/2 cup sugar, water, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in melted butter and milk until just combined.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Spoon the peach mixture over the batter.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly. Serve warm.
