Old-Fashioned Egg Custard Pie

A classic, creamy egg custard pie with a hint of nutmeg and vanilla, baked in a flaky crust.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 9-inch unbaked pie crust
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, beat eggs lightly. Add sugar, salt, vanilla, nutmeg, milk, and melted butter. Mix well.
  3. Pour the custard mixture into the unbaked pie crust.
  4. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the custard is set and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
  5. Cool on a wire rack for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
