Maryland Style Crab Cakes

Classic Maryland crab cakes made with lump crab meat and minimal filler for a delicious, authentic flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 lb lump crab meat, picked over for shells
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter or oil for frying

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a large bowl, combine breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, salt, pepper, and parsley.
  2. Gently fold in the crab meat, being careful not to break up the lumps too much.
  3. Form the mixture into 6-8 evenly sized patties and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  4. Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook crab cakes for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and heated through.
  5. Serve warm with lemon wedges and tartar sauce if desired.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
