Lemon Custard Cake

A zesty and creamy dessert with layers of fluffy cake and rich custard.

For the Crust:

  • 3 large eggs, separated
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, beat egg yolks and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in melted butter, flour, milk, lemon juice, zest, salt, and vanilla.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into the lemon mixture.
  4. Pour batter into prepared dish. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden and set.
  5. Let cool before slicing. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
