  • 2 medium green cabbages
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small red onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Carefully separate cabbage leaves and blanch them in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until pliable. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat.
  4. Add sausage slices and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  5. Add diced onion, bell pepper, and garlic; sauté until vegetables are tender.
  6. Add shrimp and Cajun seasoning; cook until shrimp are pink and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  8. Place a generous spoonful of the shrimp and sausage mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll tightly, tucking in the sides.
  9. Arrange stuffed cabbage rolls in a baking dish and bake for 15-20 minutes until heated through.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve hot.

Notes

Blanching the cabbage leaves makes them easier to roll without tearing. Adjust the Cajun seasoning to your preferred spice level. This dish reheats well and is great for meal prep.
