Irresistible Salted Caramel Chocolate Cupcakes

Decadent chocolate cupcakes filled with gooey salted caramel and topped with creamy caramel frosting.

For the Crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • Sea salt flakes for garnish

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. Whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add water, oil, vinegar, and vanilla to dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
  4. Fill cupcake liners 2/3 full and bake for 18-20 minutes. Let cool completely.
  5. Use a piping tip to core each cupcake and fill with 1 tsp salted caramel sauce.
  6. Beat butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar and heavy cream to make frosting.
  7. Pipe frosting onto cupcakes, drizzle with caramel, and sprinkle with sea salt flakes.

Notes
