Irresistible Churro Cake

For the Crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter (for glaze)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon (for glaze)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
  4. Alternately add the dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Let the cake cool for 10 minutes, then brush with melted butter and sprinkle generously with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
