- 1 package phyllo dough, thawed
- 2 cups almonds, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup honey
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix almonds, sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl.
- Brush a 9×13 baking dish with melted butter. Layer 8 sheets of phyllo, brushing each with butter.
- Sprinkle half the almond mixture over phyllo. Add 4 more buttered phyllo sheets, then remaining almonds.
- Top with remaining phyllo sheets, buttering each. Cut into triangles before baking.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden. Meanwhile, simmer honey, water, lemon juice, and vanilla for syrup.
- Pour hot syrup over baked baklava. Let cool completely before serving.
