For the Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon (for topping)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, cream butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- While the cake is warm, mix 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon, then sprinkle generously over the top.
