Hamburger Steaks with Onion Gravy

Juicy hamburger steaks smothered in a rich onion gravy, perfect for a comforting meal.

For the Crust:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 equal-sized patties.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter and add sliced onions. Cook until softened and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle flour over onions and stir to combine. Gradually add beef broth, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens.
  5. Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet, spooning gravy over them. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until fully cooked.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
