For the Crust:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups beef broth
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 equal-sized patties.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter and add sliced onions. Cook until softened and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes.
- Sprinkle flour over onions and stir to combine. Gradually add beef broth, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens.
- Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet, spooning gravy over them. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until fully cooked.
