Hamburger Steak with Onion Gravy

Savory ground beef patties smothered in a rich onion gravy, perfect for a comforting meal.

For the Crust:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp soy sauce

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 oval patties.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add sliced onions and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle flour over onions and stir for 1 minute.
  4. Gradually add beef broth and soy sauce, stirring constantly. Bring to a simmer and return patties to the skillet.
  5. Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes until gravy thickens and patties are cooked through. Serve hot.

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
