Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons dried minced onion
- 1 teaspoon steak seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3 tablespoons butter, divided
- 8 ounces sliced mushrooms
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 14 1/2 ounces beef broth
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, milk, Worcestershire sauce, dried minced onion, steak seasoning, and garlic powder. Mix well and shape into 4 patties about 3/4 inch thick.
- Heat 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear patties 5-6 minutes per side until cooked through (160°F internal temperature). Remove patties and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add remaining butter. Once melted, sauté mushrooms about 3 minutes until tender.
- Sprinkle flour over mushrooms and stir to combine. Cook 1 minute to remove raw flour taste.
- Slowly pour in beef broth while stirring to combine and scraping up any browned bits.
- Bring gravy to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 3-4 minutes until thickened.
- Season gravy with salt and pepper to taste. Nestle hamburger steaks back into the gravy and simmer for 1 minute.
- Serve hamburger steaks topped with mushroom gravy with your favorite sides.
Notes
Use fresh mushrooms for best flavor; adjust steak seasoning and Worcestershire sauce to taste. For a thicker gravy, add a little more flour. Serve with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
