Grinch Cookies

Soft, festive green cookies inspired by the Grinch with a chewy texture, decorated with red heart sprinkles to represent the Grinch’s small heart.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 24 cookies 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 3/4 cups (358g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (224g) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup + 2 tbsp (233g) granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp (28g) brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Green gel icing color
  • Red heart sprinkles
  • 12 oz white chocolate (optional for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixer bowl, cream the butter and both sugars together on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until a thick, non-sticky dough forms; do not overmix.
  6. Add green gel icing color to achieve desired color and mix.
  7. Using a scoop or spoon, form dough balls and place on baking sheets spaced apart.
  8. Bake for 9-11 minutes or until edges are set and tops are dry.
  9. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. Decorate with red heart sprinkles and optionally drizzle or chip with melted white chocolate to add detail resembling the Grinch's heart.

Notes

Use gel food coloring for a vibrant green color without thinning the dough. Do not overbake to keep cookies soft. For extra fun, decorate with white chocolate and heart sprinkles to represent the Grinch’s heart.
