Garlic Butter Steak Bites and Mashed Potatoes

  • 2 pounds venison steak
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt, divided
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper, divided
  • ¼ teaspoon ground sage
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • 56 Yukon Gold potatoes, diced
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • ½ large yellow onion, diced
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Season the venison steak with 1 teaspoon kosher salt, ¼ teaspoon black pepper, ground sage, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Dice Yukon Gold potatoes and boil until tender, then mash with 2 tablespoons butter and heavy whipping cream until creamy.
  3. Heat canola oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sauté until fragrant.
  4. Add the seasoned steak bites to the skillet and cook until browned and cooked to desired doneness.
  5. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and remaining salt and pepper to the skillet, cooking for another minute.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in remaining butter and chopped fresh parsley to create the garlic butter sauce.
  7. Serve the garlic butter steak bites over the creamy mashed potatoes.

Notes

For best results, use Yukon Gold potatoes for creamy mashed potatoes and tender venison steak. Adjust seasoning to taste and serve immediately for optimal flavor and texture.
