For the Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, mix flour, softened butter, and 1/4 cup sugar until crumbly. Press into the prepared pan and bake for 15 minutes.
- In a saucepan, whisk milk, 1/2 cup sugar, cornstarch, egg yolks, and salt over medium heat until thickened (about 10 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
- Pour custard over the baked crust and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before slicing into bars.
