For the Crust:
- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 packet French onion soup mix
- 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish. Sprinkle half of the French onion soup mix over the potatoes.
- Repeat with the remaining potatoes and soup mix. Pour the melted butter and heavy cream evenly over the top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake for another 10-15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
