Easy Crème Brûlée Cookies

Soft, buttery cookies with a rich vanilla custard flavor and a caramelized sugar topping that mimics classic crème brûlée.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup vanilla pudding mix (dry)
  • 1/4 cup coarse sugar or turbinado sugar for topping

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and dry vanilla pudding mix. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  4. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.
  5. Sprinkle the top of each cookie generously with coarse sugar.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
