Easy Crème Brûlée Cookies

Deliciously soft cookies inspired by the classic crème brûlée dessert, featuring a caramelized sugar topping for a perfect crunchy finish.

  • Total Time: 27 minutes
  • Yield: 24 cookies 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually blend dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle about 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar on top of each cookie.
  9. Using a kitchen torch, carefully caramelize the sugar until golden and crisp. Allow to cool completely before serving.

Notes

Use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar topping for the authentic crème brûlée effect. If you don’t have a torch, broil the cookies briefly but watch closely to avoid burning.
