Crockpot Cranberry Sauce

A simple and flavorful cranberry sauce made effortlessly in a crockpot, combining fresh cranberries with brown sugar, white sugar, orange juice, water, cinnamon, and orange zest for a sweet and tangy holiday side.

  • Total Time: 3 hours 55 minutes
  • Yield: 8 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the light brown sugar, white sugar, ground cinnamon, orange juice, water, and orange zest in the crockpot. Stir well to mix.
  2. Add the fresh cranberries and stir to coat them evenly with the mixture.
  3. Cook the mixture on high for 3 hours, stirring the cranberries every hour to distribute heat and flavor.
  4. After 3 hours, mash the cranberries to your preferred consistency and continue cooking on high, uncovered, for an additional 45 minutes to thicken the sauce.
  5. Let the cranberry sauce cool, then transfer to a serving dish or storage container.

Notes

Stir every hour during cooking to prevent scorching. The sauce will thicken as it cools. You can adjust sweetness by adding more sugar if desired. Optional to add orange zest for enhanced citrus flavor.
