Crispy Chicken Tempura Roll

A delicious sushi roll featuring crispy tempura-battered chicken, fresh vegetables, and sushi rice wrapped in nori.

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups sushi rice, cooked and seasoned
  • 4 sheets nori (seaweed)
  • 1 chicken breast, sliced into thin strips
  • 1/2 cup tempura batter mix
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp sriracha sauce
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix tempura batter with cold water until smooth. Dip chicken strips into the batter and fry until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise and sriracha to make spicy mayo.
  4. Place a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat. Spread a thin layer of sushi rice evenly over the nori, leaving a 1-inch border at the top.
  5. Arrange cucumber, avocado, and crispy chicken strips in the center of the rice. Drizzle with spicy mayo.
  6. Roll the sushi tightly using the bamboo mat, pressing gently to seal. Slice into 8 pieces with a sharp knife. Repeat with remaining ingredients.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
