For the Crust:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 large apples, peeled and diced
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
- In another bowl, toss diced apples with remaining 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- Alternately add flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Fold in apples.
- Pour half the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with half the brown sugar. Repeat layers.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Mix powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon milk to make glaze. Drizzle over cooled bread.
