- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup melted butter for topping
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar mixed with 1 tablespoon cinnamon for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- Gradually mix in the flour mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with flour. Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Brush top of warm cake with melted butter, then sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar mixture. Serve warm or at room temperature.
