For the Crust:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp dried thyme
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add onions, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are caramelized (about 20 minutes).
- Add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet, simmer for 5 minutes until slightly reduced.
- Arrange chicken breasts in the baking dish. Pour onion mixture over the chicken.
- In a bowl, mix Gruyère, mozzarella, Parmesan, and thyme. Sprinkle evenly over the chicken and onions.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until chicken is cooked through and cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
