Ingredients
Scale
- 1 frozen pie crust (deep dish if available)
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3 Tbsp cornstarch
- 3 Tbsp dry strawberry Jell-O
- 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
Instructions
- Bake the frozen pie crust according to package instructions, typically at 400°F for 15 minutes or until golden. Let cool completely.
- In a saucepan, bring 1 1/4 cups water to a boil. Stir in 1 1/4 cups sugar until dissolved, then whisk in 3 Tbsp cornstarch until smooth. Return to a boil, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Remove from heat and stir in 3 Tbsp strawberry Jell-O until fully dissolved. Let the glaze cool slightly.
- Arrange hulled and halved fresh strawberries in the cooled pie crust. Drizzle the glaze evenly over the strawberries, ensuring all berries are coated. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.
Notes
Use ripe, firm strawberries for the best texture and flavor. The glaze sets firmly in the fridge, mimicking the original restaurant version. For extra shine, brush the cooled crust with a beaten egg white before baking.
