Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make this bento box the night before?
Yes! Assemble everything except items that brown quickly, like apple slices tossed in lemon juice, and store covered in the fridge. This is one of the best back to school lunch ideas for busy mornings since most of the work happens the night before.
What if my child doesn't like one of the components?
Simply swap it out — replace turkey with ham or chicken, or trade grapes for berries. The formula of protein, carb, fruit, veggie, and treat stays the same even as ingredients change.
How do I keep the bento box cold until lunchtime?
Pack it in an insulated lunch bag with a reusable ice pack, and keep it refrigerated at home until the last possible minute before heading out the door.
