- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (for coating)
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 12-cup bundt pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
- In another bowl, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, vegetable oil, eggs, applesauce, apple cider, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Mix melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Brush the cooled cake with melted butter and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the cake to coat.
Notes
This cake is best served fresh with the cinnamon sugar coating for that authentic apple cider donut flavor. You can add diced apples to the batter for extra texture. The cinnamon sugar coating is optional but adds a delightful crunch and sweetness.
